Dreams Come True

no words…I was there just the morning of 31 august 1997!

There is a lack of a unique thematic mailing list about marketing and communication in and for museums. The list can also operate as a forum between professional involved in mktg, comm and PR.
There is the PRAM list from the PR and Marketing committee of American Association of Museums that is the most active one, but it is not much aware on the European side.

I also think that it will be useful to create a forum/round-table of museums marketing and communication professionals.

There is the chance to create two version of the list, I waiting for opinion and ideas. One open to all people who can have interest in the field and one more professional oriented, open only to professionals with demonstrable references.

To be ready and concrete, I start to create the list

Another Web2.0 utility

with backpack it is possible to archive and share ideas, photos, to do list, calendar, events etc

My reader (wow…at least I have one reader…) Meya Laraqui send me an intersting email about PodcastGO.com where there is a dedicated museums channel where experience for free museums podcast like the PAAM by just uploading a video.

Probably all of you is now aware about the new Apple iPhone that will create the revolution on the way to use cell phones.
But the iPhone can find an ideal usage also in museums environment as a video/audio/web guide, all into a unique device connected by Wi-Fi or by Edge protocol.

We start to work in cooperation with Apple to test it as museums visitors tools.

Who will have ideas or comment to share please do it here or write me directly.

As Apple user, usually I hate Microsoft, but the new product Microsoft present yesterday appear that will be very useful to use in museum environment.

There is an article presenting it, here and here, but all the web is full with information about Microsoft Surface.

Microsoft Surface is a 30-inch table-like display where to apply surface and gestural 3D interface. It is more difficult to explain in text then you can see in action.

Next week in Chicago American Association of Museums annual meeting. I will be there.

Europeana it is a prototype of on-line library, with more than 12.000 documents. It is the Francaise contribute to the European Digital Library.

The European Library is for searching the content of European national libraries.
